Reminder

I snatched this photo off of Facebook. A friend took this at Farmer's Market a few weeks back. Jason was out of town and it was just the kids and I. I have never actually seen what it looks like to be in public until she posted it. That's a lot of small children!

You know how they say "enjoy it, it goes by fast"?  Well I do.  And I am aware of that.  I am grateful for this photo as a reminder in years to come that at this exact moment, they choose to be by their Mommy.  They are all in the same place at the same time most of the days.
They all hold my hand or prefer to be held.

And in a blink of an eye, I'll rise from my bed with wrinkled hands and possibly a sore back,
I'll go downstairs to see twin teenage boys eating again.
I'll miss the boys that already left home and wonder if they're still sleeping.
I'll tell my daughter that her skirt is too short and she will roll her eyes at me.

I'll sigh and think of the day that was captured with her on my hip, the two oldest on my side, and the twins in the stroller. I may sigh again wondering where all of that young energy went!

Thank you, Chara, for posting this. I sure hope the kids will see this some day and notice the great amount of effort that it took to get out of the house and go somewhere!

My Second Born

Not gonna lie. He gets away with a lot more than the others. I can't explain it. This kid just gets "it". Not sure what "it" entails other than he has captured his mama's heart entirely since the day he was born.

His nickname used to be Easy E (nicknames evolve in this household)... he's still very easy.  Easy to please, easy to hug, easy to entertain, easy to love.

Everett, I adore you.  Your big green eyes and bright red lips get me every time.

I just woke him from his nap and this is what I got, a lip less smile...reminds me exactly of waking him from this nap nearly three years ago...
