Rain or Shine

Get your kids outside!
California has great weather, GREAT weather compared to most states in the US. We get seasons (unless your south, then it's just summer or "winter", aka Holy Crap it's 60 degrees), and we get them in moderation. So, when it's cold or rainy, we're known to hibernate inside due to it being "unbearable" outdoors. People, we're not meant to be indoor creatures. Back in the day, they had tents. And everybody farmed. Trust me, if I could, I would return to the day when all food and beverages were pure just like the earth and our Maker intended. Ooh, a whole different subject, but remind me to post about my utopia compound which would include all of our friends and family residing in one area in which we live off the land (you're thrilled, I know).
Are you used to me running off track yet?
On Sunday it rained pretty much all day here. We were feeling a tad Closter phobic so we decided to hit the trails for a walk. Looking like a tacky tourist family visiting Niagra Falls in the dead of winter (I'm talking 4 layers, folks), we packed umbrellas, wore our mud boots, strapped Baby around Daddy's chest and hit the trails.
It poured the second we locked the truck. Pretty much didn't stop our whole walk.
But what magic to see the water droplets bouncing off the pond like a broken bead necklace hitting the floor! What wonder to see my son search for the perfect stick and the roundest rock. It really was much needed, and again a reminder to follow your instinct, which was how you were created, to live and breathe outside. Give your kids that gift. They will be healthier and more creative, guaranteed.
(However, you don't need to lock them outside for hours on end unless they have to go "number two". I will refrain from mentioning what mother did that often). :-)
