Who would have ever known? I now TRULY understand the saying, "don't judge a book by it's cover". Not a fan of romance novels, and not a fan of most Christian fiction, let alone a Christian romance novel? This one didn't have a chance.
However.
Highly recommended from one of my closest friends, Melissa, and knowing it had been read by several others in a burn-through-pages style, I decided to give it a try.
I read it in two days.
It was full of drama, but not in a hokey way. I actually really enjoyed it.
Set in the 1850's and in the heat of the gold-rush, it's a modern day story (well, I guess not so modern day as it was back then) of Hosea and the prostitute Gomer. In a historical sense, it reminded me of a book I read a few years ago, "Daughter of Fortune" (which is a great read, by the way). I should finish before actually ruining the plot... but if you're looking for an easy, fun read, pick it up. Just don't look at the cover, er, or the back as the author's turtleneck is a bit distracting.
