Mute

As winter is ending, we've been counting our sickness to month ratio. Since doubling our amount of children and therefore doubling our exposure to viruses, the Bee Hive is averaging one cold per month. Since our colds last approximately one week, we get approximately 3 weeks of sleep and health and one week of lack thereof. It's fair enough, and I'm doing our best to be realistic and relaxed about it. On the positive note, the little bees are developing quite an immunity!

So, based on the current ratio, this past week happens to fit right in with our winter stats. This time, Carter lost his voice. It's a first, and I must say, it was a partial blessing! He's barely talked the last few days and it's been so peaceful! What a cruel thing to say. It also made me realize what a person he is and how much he contributes to conversation. I do miss his little voice.
Baby Bee, on the other hand, has more than made up for it. He noticed his opportunity to be heard and has been taking advantage! He will have a complete conversation to anyone with an open ear. He's enjoying being the most verbal being in the home at the moment, and who's to blame him? Speak on, son. Your time is almost up.
Jumping on the natural soap box yet again, I would love to share this article with you that my fellow-homeopathic friend, Rachel sent my way. It will take a few minutes, but it defines our family's core belief with sickness, medications, and the over-prescription of anti-biotics, not to mention a fresh and traditional scientific view on our body's capability of fighting off viruses (such as the voiceless one my firstborn is currently neck and neck with).
You'll be glad you read it and it may lead you to think twice about reaching for the Motrin at the first sign of a fever.
