Swimming Success

Boo! Teacher Cindy had all kinds of tricks up her sleeve this year!
With a lot of animation and a lot of pushing, these kids are near-pool safe.
Naturally, the "sink or swim" style of lessons results in a lot of these faces (I couldn't help posting Kuper's pout--he was by far the fakest crier!):
But the beauty of this style of swim lessons, within minutes, literally, your child improves his or her skills in the water, learning very quickly how to be pool safe and how to swim accurately.
Just.

Like.

That.

Even Bee had his fair share of water time. Daddy Mock surprised us the last day and put in some time with his brown baby (which is a great contrast to that Scotts/Irish skin of his).

I'll be honest, it was much harder this year than last (two screaming kids!)! But I must say, the experience was pretty much the same. I was completely humbled the first day as my compliant and "easy" children shrieked their way through their entire lesson. It was unnerving. However, quickly, I learned how much Kid enjoys being pushed and how amazing his response is when pushed.
I often wonder if he would have more fears and phobias if he wasn't "heavily encouraged" to do such things. I think so. By the end, Teacher Cindy was able to "break the barrier" of his jumping issue. He had a difficult time trusting her and himself in jumping all by himself into the pool (apparently this is an issue with a lot of kids). By the last day, not only did he jump willingly down the side of the pool, jump by jump, but he made it to the diving board, alone, to jump to Teacher Cindy, waiting in the water. An amazing accomplish, Son! We're so proud of you!
I also have to add that Kid's diligence is remarkable. When he wasn't working in his lesson, and he knew Teacher Cindy wouldn't grab him for a specific task, he would head to the steps of the pool to practice diving for rings, over and over. He does this often with many things that he is trying to perfect, something I admire, as I'm afraid, in my carelessness, diligence it not a trait I possess!

And, yes, Teacher Cindy would like to work with the kids again next week, so off to Sonora, again, come Tuesday!
