This would be a jar full of contents ready to culture to become ginger ale, a very healthy addition to your diet! Cindy started her blog, A Step of Health about a month ago, and almost daily she has incredible recipes, suggestions, and information on taking steps to greater health. I'm not just talking eating organic and skipping on artificial ingredients...it goes much further back, before refrigerators (hence all of the healthy "sprouting" and "culturing"), to find all of nature's recipes for healing, energy, and restoration.
I'll be honest. We eat very healthy, avoid a lot of unnatural ingredients in our household... if using grains or legumes, I try to sprout them a day or two before, nevertheless, I do get overwhelmed with the idea that our diet can be even more healthy and more beneficial...a lot of the recipes take time, which is something I'm a bit short on these days. I am excited for the day that I can fit in making my own bread, yogurt, cheese, etc., but for now, my priority is strictly rearranging our budget so that I can afford to buy them (or maybe I will be forced one day based on the economy, ick).
However, ginger ale is a recipe that does not take much time to pull together and the health benefits are worth any effort put forth... a few of the benefits (from Cindy's blog):
-Overall anti fungal, anti inflammatory, anti bacterial, anti everything... but in a healthy way :)
-Stops heartburn and acid reflux
-Digestion Aid and helps with gas and bloating
-Reduces inflammation
-Fever Reducer
-Morning Sickness help (with changes in diet)
-Mild headache remedy (I still use aspirin occasionally)
-Energy drink (when mixed with minerals and juice)
-Calms your nerves... a little bit :)
-Food poisoning relief (some - a good, healthy, active gut is your best defense against food poisoning.)
-Menstrual Cramp relief
It's also a great way to keep your system balanced and healthy...it should be something that your kiddos can drink daily to maintain their health specifically during the cold and flu season!
Go on and whip up a jar of ginger ale or Kombucha tea and let's cheers to good health!
