The sun rises, Daddy leaves, and shortly thereafter I get a visitor in my bed. He's handsome, he's consistent, he's happy to start the day before the others wake. He's my early bird. At times I have mastered changing his plan. In fact, I do know the true answer to get him to sleep until the same time as his siblings, but this has become our time and most mornings, I welcome it.
He starts sleepy-eyed and ready for a snuggle.
Rapidly the morning person takes over and he's full of jokes and mischief. Occasionally I am able to snuggle him back to sleep. Those are sweet moments I treasure. But usually he is funny, entertaining and joyful. It's a good way to start the day. It's my time to tell him how special he is, speak into him the man he will become and the hope I have for him and his choices in life. He pretends to agree and understand the depth of our conversation.
Did I mention he's charming?
He is my special boy. He brings life and energy wherever he goes. He is rarely moody or emotional. He loves life and adventure. These are the things I tell him.
He responds, "I know...can I have a cookie now?".
This kid, always looking for something out of it!
And for the record...yes, Bee does often ask for cookies as a reward... and yes, his success rate remains near zero. It doesn't hurt trying, though.
