Burn Day

Growing up, we had a Saturday tradition that at the time I loathed, but of course, now as a parent, truly appreciate... it was "Family Work Day".
Most of the time this occurred on Saturday. We would start the morning with a lovely "Rise and shine and give God the glory" from the parentals, then consumed some sort of healthy hot meal. After eating our 3 lb whole wheat/ buckwheat/ oatmeal pancakes, we would head off to work. Living on acreage with plenty of animals, there was always work to be done.

Now we have our own acreage to care for and plenty to do.
I love how completely unsafe the above picture is...seriously, a two-year-old next to gasoline and in front of a 10ft fire? That's how we roll, people.

Lulu is all about helping the boys...there was no "girl work" in her agenda for the day.

As you can imagine, when a Family Work Day consists of a burn pile, the boys are ecstatic.
And guess who is breaking the rules? Of course, Everett. Caught in action. I'm pretty sure cinged his brows doing that.
One happy participant of Family Work Day.
