The Big City

I have a gazillion good memories with my grandparents. They were the type to take us places our parents could never afford, like the movie theater, bowling, San Fransisco, museums, etc. We created a lot of memories. Now they are still in the "Big City" and the kids and I are secluded in our small town. Getting five kids to visit Great Grandpa and Great Grandma three hours away is not such an easy task. But I was missing them. So on Friday, I loaded the five littles and headed to the "Big City".

In the short time we were there (I believe it was less than two hours), I nursed two babies and fed three children.  Four out of five of my children went #2.  Three out of four of those children had blow outs, requiring a changing of clothes.  Two babies needed naps (as you can see below, Grandpa assisted with), and an exhausted Mother needed food!
Needless to say, I didn't get the picturesque special time I had imagined...but I suppose that's the new reality with toting around my little army.

I keep forgetting that my expectations need to be set to a minimum.  I had nine stops to make in one day as it's not often we get out to the Big City.  Nine stops.  Five car seats.  One double stroller, a sling holding a two-year-old, four empty hands waiting to touch things....one parent to man the madness.  What was I thinking?!
We survived.  We saw Grandma and Grandpa.  We made our nine stops, and thankfully, arrived at home with all five children in tow.
It was so nice to see you, Grandma and Grandpa!  I hope you were able to air out your home after we left. :-)

Grassie

My lover of critters and all things with legs.
What he lacks for in originality (dubbed the Grasshopper "Grassie"), he makes up for in compassion.

In the 24 hours that Grassie has been his pet, he has been on "walks" or shall we say "hops", taken several naps on his bed of leaves and grass, been fed tiny bugs, and has been sung several lullabies.  The hopper hangs with Ev wherever he goes.

My country kid.  I sure do love how insects don't scare him and how quick he is to befriend the ugliest of creatures.  Welcome to the family, Grassie!
