What a fun day. Our day started out with me getting my 4 miles in early this morning, showering and even blow drying (makes for a happy mom). Carter stayed in his crib until 9:30am, allowing me to get the bag packed full of snacks, diapers, burp cloths, you know how it goes... I get Carter up, give him some brekkie, get him dressed, wake Everett up, then head to story time at the library.
Ahhh. Carter sat the entire 30 mins of story time, completely enthralled with the animated elderly woman. He also got to use rhythm sticks at one point, which made for easy nursing for Everett and I. It was fun, he had fun, I had fun, and since Everett was eating, of course he had fun. After story time, since C did so well, we decided to go read in the kiddie corner. I sat for 30 mins with both boys reading book after book. I have NEVER, I repeat, NEVER, have been able to do this with C as he is so busy and usually needs to throw or kick something, and let's face it, the library is not the place to do that (unless I want his mugshot on the door, banning him from re-entering again). E was starting to get sleepy, so we decided to go (after, of course, checking out a book about baseball).
E fell asleep quickly in the car. At that point, I had the option of attempting to transfer him to his bed, drive to a park, play with C, and hope E sleeps the entire time (but it is horribly windy here today, no fun for me--especially since I just blow-dried my hair!), or go to the mall for the indoor playground--plus, I needed to buy C some new shoes. So, to the mall we went.
This was my first attempt taking both boys to the mall. I have been a bit nervous, assuming we would look like a walking zoo. Boy was I wrong! I decided to use E's stroller as he was already asleep in his car seat. So C was a big boy and went without. We started at the playground, played for a while, then moved our way onward. Carter picked out some new "soccer shoes", I got him a few summer items in another store, and we headed to the food court. We sat over our Rubio's lunch and had a wonderful conversation about the library and about wheelchairs (he is just now starting to notice wheel chairs, disabled people, etc.... is there any type of book out there that teaches parents how to respond to that? Crikeys... I wasn't prepared for that one). We headed to Starbucks for myself, then back to the playground to end the trip. I nursed E while Carter played, we went to the restroom to scrub off all the germ-pit nasties, then hopped into the car.
I write this long post simply as a reminder for me whenever I question having more kids. Two is fun. I think three or four would be even more fun. It's totally do-able. I don't think once did my stress level raise. Carter and I had our bonding, Everett got his 2-hr nap in, and best of all, both boys cashed out on the way home and both angelically transferred to their cribs. I now have "me" time and I am loving it! Now, off to do something productive like prepping for dinner.... it never ends!
