Breaker Breaker

10-4, Baddog, we have a discussion topic.

The internet. Amazing how one word encompasses so much of people's time! I know that it can mean so many things to so many different people. To some people, they met their soul mate on there, to others, they work from it--others stay in contact with family across the globe, and others (here's me, hiding my face), simply enjoy shopping on it.

Well, as I am reminded daily that I am a mom (no going around that one, but oddly, it still kind of shocks me), I am also reminded daily of being young and remembering the way *my* mom did things.

It's funny how your kid is playing well independently (just like Easy E is in the back bedroom with the door shut!), you run to the computer to check your email, get distracted by reading the news, catching up on your friends' lives, etc, etc. Well, since there wasn't the Internet in my mom's prime "mommy days", there was the phone. AHA! A lot of my memories are of my mom on the phone. Sorry, Mom, it's true. I can't tell you how many times she would demand I should have a rest time (granted I was 10!). I would spy on her only to find her sitting on the head chair by the window, with the phone cord stretched as she's chatting away.

So, here's where I divert the attention from my mom's shortcomings to my own... sure, I may not be on the phone all day (*Reminder: Change cell phone plan to less minutes), but I do enjoy the computer. Obviously I spend time blogging, but I am going to take a moment to expose myself (relax, I'm not going to flash you). Here are the sites that I frequent everyday:

-Well, my email, of course
-My Sonora Girls chat room, which is our forum that we "talk" on everyday
-My March/ April 2006 birth club--fab group of women from all over the world. We all met on the Babywhisperer website when our babies were 2 months old! Basically we talk about our kids, swap ideas, recipes, discipline & teaching tips, etc.
-My blog
-Missy's blog (gotta keep up to date on my nieces!)
-various friends' blogs
-Facebook (where all of my college friends are)

So, I may not be lounging back on the chair with my feet up and the phone to my ear, but when I have moments of me time, the internet is my escape.
