Narration (Boy #2)

How I Spent My Birthday Weekend
by Everett Mockabee
There were supposed to be a lot of friends and family staying at my house, but unfortunately most of them got sick. We ended up spending all of our time with Grammy and Opa, which I didn’t mind. I like how Opa holds me all the time and how Grammy pays a lot of attention to me and doesn’t let me cry. My Mommy left for the whole day on Saturday to decorate and cook for my party.

She decided on the theme of “Vintage Little Golden Books”. She came across some vintage Golden Books at the thrift store a few weeks back and fell in love with their pictures. My big brother and I like their stories too. She had lots of bright colors for the kids. Each kid got their own vintage book and a special wand. (Daddy begged for the boy wands to be called something different, like a “Pirate Sward, ARGH!”), to which she obliged.

The menu for my party was a burrito bar with different salads and snacks. There was a lot of food there!

Of course the best moment of the day was when I got my first taste of cake.

I heard people talking about how they knew I would do a good job; I didn’t want to let them down.

I think I finished the cupcake in less than ten seconds, and I was a very satisfied customer.

The next day I spent all day with my cousins, Aunties, and Gigi and Papa. It was really fun to spend time with them as I don’t get to see them much.

Even though I'm not the baby of the family anymore (Miss Taylor Shay took my place),

Mommy says I'm still her baby, and Daddy says it too.

Thanks to all of my friends and family that came to celebrate my first birthday!

*and a big thank you to Christie Brown for capturing moments for my Mommy during the party! Miss Christie took photos #1, 5,6, & 7.
