Second week of sink or swim lessons over and done.
Kid was amazing.
Walking in the first day (of the second week), he was whiny and nervous. The second he got in the pool it all changed, in fact, all the kids showed such bravery and talent! It was amazing to see the fruits of their labor. Soon, the inhibitions were gone, and they were following directions and taking risks, without negotiation (which Kid was becoming pretty famous for... example, "Well, it kind of looks dangerous"... roll eyes now!).
They allowed themselves to have a lot of fun, while being true men and showing their muscles.
Kid snuck in the older kids' lesson... I was so proud that he wanted to be in there and was willing to do what they were doing, including diving! He looked so small compared to them when standing in line. It was cute.
A big thank you to Teacher Cindy, who actually does this for the love of it, not pay. Amazing woman she is! To know she has known me since birth--such a tight knit crew up there.
In fact, I have to document this for baby book purposes... last week Baby was with us, but this week I chose to leave him with his Gigi as he was fighting a bit of a cold and having him under could mess with his ears, etc... anyway, last week when he was there, Cindy mentioned that his dark brown skin and happy nature reminded her exactly of Jakey as a baby (my brother)... then she finished with "Not a lick of common sense, that boy"... exactly. To which Baby decided to fall in at least four times, sink, then scream, then do it all over again. If he is anything like his Uncle Jakey, we will be visiting the ER many more times than one would wish.
For some odd reason, that kind of excites me.
