First of all, when did my four-year-old turn 15?
Said four-year-old has been nasty pants the last two weeks. Just naughty. It always takes about a week for me to actually realize that there is some sort of "need" causing the naughtiness. Then another few days to realize what the need is---things run slow around here, I attest.
So as I was having him run up and down our driveway because he clearly had too much energy, I realized the boy's outdoor time has been cut short as of late. Because this is my busy season, I am often on the computer editing and the critters are on the floor playing.
Our usual nature hikes and outing adventures have been put on hold.
Naughty culprit: discovered.
Today, as the twins napped, we hiked down our road (chillax, it's a private road, the twins were fine in their slumber) and searched for some nature-y items. Like a mountain goat or a labrador puppy, he was meandering up and down the hills, through the trees, under the leaves. Duh, Mom. The boy needed to be let loose.
The girl did too.
We did it twice. Ran them tired. Jason and I always joke a good kid is a tired kid, and this rule most definitely applies to Everett.
He got his fresh air. He got his exercise, and upon our arrival, happily went off playing "moms and dads" with his sister.
