Conversations with Kids, Take 2

Kid's Why of the Week:

Kid: Why do we wait upon the Lord? (taken from the song we sing in church!)

Me: Well, sometimes God doesn't answer our prayers right away, and all we can do is continue to pray and know he will in his own way in his own time.

Kid: Why? Why does he do it on his own time?

Me: Because he knows more than we do what's good for us! Remember when your wrist hurt and he didn't heal it right away? You waited upon the Lord all night until the next morning, and that's when he healed it!

Kid: Yeah! And it's all better. I waited upon the Lord.

Do Tell (on yourself):

You know when those special days happen where your child just obeys? Every time? They are indeed remarkable. Last night we hit up our weekly neighborhood potluck and shortly after we were getting Kid dressed for bed. Our convo...

Kid: I need to tell you something.

Me: Yes?

Kid: I hit Gracie tonight when you weren't there.

Me: Oh, that's sad...that doesn't seem very kind. Did it hurt her, did you apologize?

Kid: I did. I said sorry and gave her a hug. But I didn't get in trouble.

Me: No, because I wasn't there.

Kid: No. You weren't. So what are we going to take away from me tonight?

Me: (hmmmn, good question! Do you still give a consequence when such honesty leaves their mouths?)... well, we should probably take away one book, because if I was there, that is probably what would happen.

Kid: I think that's a good idea.

Food Makes Everything Better:
Bee is just straight up cranky at times. It took a few days of drool for me to realize that he is, in fact, working on his last four molars. Poor Bee. Thankfully he relates pain with hunger and food seems to cure the pain (how emotionally unhealthy--I would never intentionally try to contribute to the country's obesity rate just to stop the whining...).

Bee: Whaaaa Maaamaaaaaa. Myyyyy. (interpretation: A very annoying whining sound)
Me: Bee, please show me what you need instead of whining. Do your teeth hurt, say yes or no.
Bee: Yes, Dinner. (sounds more like: Yeth, Ninner)
Me: Sure, Bee, let's get you a snack.
Bee: (quiet and content in his chair)
Me: (happy)

Hair Styling, 101

Our diaper changing station is in our bathroom due to the cloth diaper/ spray the poop in the toilet situation (Sounds pleasant, doesn't it? Every master bedroom should reek of toddler poop all day--seriously, you're missing out if it doesn't).

I digress.
So, I'm getting Bee dressed and he keeps saying a word over and over. I'm getting good at decoding his toddler-language, but I'm not quite 100%.

Bee: Fikes. Fikes. Fikes.
Me: Bike, Bee? You want to ride your bike at the park?
Bee: Naaaaah. Fikes. Fikes.
Me: Well, you'll have to show me when we get outside.
Bee: (pulls his hair up), FIKES! DADDY! CARTER!
Me: Oh, you want spikes like Daddy and Brother?
Bee: Yes.

Got it. Another word, very detrimental to a toddler's vocabulary. Spikes.

Near Ready

Today makes 31 Weeks!
I'm officially in the single-digit-weekly-countdown (say that ten times!) stage. And it feels good.
Well, the above photo didn't really show the bump (although I do love knowing that this was captured while I was watching my boys play, er, and too lazy to get up to play with them), and quite honestly every photo in the shoot didn't really either, except this one:
So there you have it, Scarlett in all her glory, sticking far out for the world to see.
And for the books...

Pregnancy Cravings:
-Ezekiel Cinnamon Raisin cereal with whole raw milk, sometimes with added granola. This has been overriding my typical ice cream cravings (which I had with the boys)...I think my thighs will be thanking me for that.
-Won Ton soup. I don't get it often, but it's one of those things that always sounds good.
-The coffee cravings have gone, but hot cider is certainly taking their place.

Similarities:
Weight gain is still the same as the boys...little miss had a growth spurt... 15 lbs to date!

Differences:
I'm pretty sure I've been redundant in mentioning how far my hips have spread? How insanely annoying! My belly is also a bit more wide rather than basketball-ish as it was with the boys. Oh, and I have back fat. Plenty of it. It's disgusting.

Energy is good, I'm feeling good! I'm still much less tolerant than my non-pregnant self, but having energy and less headaches has been a nice break. The nesting of course is in full-force. Her room is nearly done and we've received hand-me-downs from different sources, that I must say has been an huge blessing--it was very overwhelming to me to have to outfit an entirely new gender!
