Marks a Month!

Happy One Month Birthday, Honey Girl!
Milestones:
-Smiles, smiles, and more smiles! You are so responsive and I've stated this before but you're already smiling when talked to (mostly for Mommy, but you have smiled a handful of times for your Daddy and today you smiled for Kid)
-You do stretches of 4-7 hrs at night...I can't complain!
-You're happy when awake, and handle a lot of stimulation (read: brother "loving") very well.
-You hold your head up very well... I chalk this up to tummy sleeping. It's funny to see such a tiny baby with her head straigh up looking out at the world!
Routine:
-You eat every three hours during the day, I usually have to wake you each time to eat.
-You last about an hour (which is much longer than your brothers at this age) before taking a nap.
-You still don't cry when you go down for your naps...on occasion, when you're overtired, you may fuss for a few minutes, lately, you've been waking up about an hour into your nap...you make some bird-like squawks then go back to sleep, I'm not sure what that's all about!
Physically:
-I have no clue how much you weigh, I need to get you weighed somewhere.
-Your eyes are looking more and more blue...not like Kid's, though, much darker, like your Daddy's. I can't believe I have a blue-eyed girl!
-Your arms and thighs are chubbing up, oh, and you have a good sized-double chin!
-I'm capturing your curls as I'm pretty sure you'll lose them. Oh how sweet they are around your ears.
You're such a lovely little addition to our family. We love you so much and your sweet spirit brings such harmony to this household!

Back in the Singer Again

It's been a month since I've used my sewing machine. All it takes is a birthday party to get my motivation back, I suppose. I've decided to continue our gift-guideline (handmade and under $5) into 2010...I'm sure I'll be kicking myself when one of the kids decides not to nap and I have some elaborate gift that needs to be made...until then, I'll pretend it's an easy task whipping up a gift while they sleep (I'll also pretend that I don't put a short video on proceeding their nap just to buy more time--I would never ever do that)...

Violet is one of Kid's first friends made here in The Wind Tunnel, therefore she deserves a very girly crown!
I haven't worked with felt before other than using it for appliques, but this was very easy... thanks to a quick google for felt crown tutorials... I used this awesome tutorial to use.
My only complaint is that Joann's has a less than impressive assortment of wool felt colors. One would think that this new "craft revolution" that's started in the past few years would at least motivate the mainstream fabric stores to step up to their customers' demand... fun fabric and nice colors...guess they never got that memo.
Of course, once Kid spotted it, he requested a "boy version" of it... well, Kid, good thing your birthday is coming up! I think an awesome cape would accompany it nicely, don't you?
Ahhh, it's good to be back!
