We have been very project-oriented here. Anyone who knows me or my husband know that's the norm. Well, as any project goes, we all know there is quite an evolving effect of projects. It started with cleaning the garage ("cleansing" in my terms), headed to our office (in which much cleansing was done!), then back to the garage to create my make-shift preschool!
Preschool is ridiculously overpriced here in Morgan Hill. I'm sorry, but it is very hard to justify budgeting over $350/ month on 4 hrs of "education" a week for my 3-yr-old... Hence the garage wall makeover.
So, today started our "school time" half-hour. I thought it would be perfect time as Everett takes his morning nap, Carter is as sharp as a whip, and everyone is fed and well rested.
He's SO not ready. As adventurous as he has been in the interest department, learning about letters is still not one of them. Shapes-down, colors-getting there, letters and numbers-far from it! I have friends whose kids can write the whole alphabet at his age (I know I know, "do not compare", you say). I can compare, and I can also accept--to which I will do.
He's a boy. He knows every type of tractor, every article of clothing one would wear if you were a pitcher, a catcher, a quarterback, he knows friends' names, their moms' names, he knows every instrument I can think of and more, he just doesn't care about the letter "A"!
School time may have to detour a bit to something that may spark more interest... Perhaps I will start putting letters in the excavators or numbers in the soccer cleats... whatever it may be, I WILL put this room to use!
