Yesterday at church our pastor was hugging and greeting us when I found myself apologizing for Carter's singing (read: shouting) during worship. He gently corrected my apology by stating, "Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord".
As I stood corrected, my thoughts shifted to being a child and being at church.
Quite charismatic, agreed, but from my memory, it's what I would imagine what heaven will be like. Children dancing and skipping in praise down the isles. Men and women waving flags, thanking their Maker. Tears of joy and humility. Instruments of many kinds. Banners held high on the walls praising Jehovah, Father, Almighty God.
If his command is for all those who breathe, then surely there will be animals in heaven! After our pastor had said that to me, I was hoping to capture a beautiful picture of a marvelous bird, or a mischievous squirrel sprinting towards the tree. Instead, I had to settle for the neighbor's bully of a goat. Less pleasant, but as irony has it, he'll be in heaven too (with a flag, perhaps?)
"Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!"
