As mentioned, the Bee has been teething (I suppose I should document that he cut his second molar?). When Baby teethes, he gets these horribly acidic poops (gross, yes--try changing them). With the acidic poops comes an equally horrible rash. Because we are doing cloth diapers, it is highly suggested not to use diaper creams as they can affect the waterfroofness (technically not a word, but now it is!) of the diaper. So what is a woman to do? I tried airing him out, but alas, our yard is far too acorny(again, not a word), resulting in a rash AND scratches. Airing out inside results in many-a-puddles and a few number two's (gross a-gain), so that method is not preferred.
Thanks to my adorably-British friend, Shanaz, I was able to use her resources for the instantly healing and cloth diaper-friendly diaper rash remedy:
Chamomile Tea and Honey
That's it! Of course we had to switch to cloth wipes (something I have been hesitating to do due to the gross-factor, however, it was surprisingly not that bad)--make two cups of chamomile tea, scoop a teaspoon of honey in it (raw is preferred, more healing enzymes!), and I personally added some olive oil. Add it to a small spray bottle and spritz the magic potion onto the cloth wipe.
He was literally bleeding when we started and within 24 hours his rash was gone. I give him a little spray on his bum right before he goes to bed so that it absorbs into his skin all night.
Now why do we spend loads of money on all of these miracle creams when we have them just a few steps away in our kitchen? Spend your money elsewhere, friend.
Make some tea (and save a bum).
Post Edit: I should also add that it is a nice little step in the right direction on this whole quest to be more natural... have you read the ingredients in wipes? It's alarming. No wonder Baby would kick and flail when one touched his sore bum.
