What a day.
Sure, we have our Stay and Play days, but those days are usually accompanied with helping hands for cleaning, laundry, and a nice long walk. We also have the outdoors to run off energy.
Today? Well, the house was clean (read: was), laundry was done (read: was), so what to do? Kid governed the first move... "Let's practice with our kids' umbrellas!" (he's been dying to use them since I bought them months back for a great deal at none-other-than Target)

Even in the craziness of the storm, this did not stop my children from being outside. I wasn't too pleased with standing in the soaking rain, but they were more than enjoying the rain fall that was "as hard as sticks (Kid)".
Bee didn't know quite what to do with the umbrella, but instead went to his natural pull of a destination. Mud puddles. Yes, they're still in their pj's. Yes, it was nearly 10am, but it was a very rainy day and we somewhat started our day at 6am, due to a power outage and two scared boys in a dark room. Note to self, know where flashlights are at all times and have them adequately stocked with working batteries. Sheesh. It's been a day.
Buuut, we did all that one does on a rainy day:
-Train tracks
-Fire Station Imaginary Play
-Chase/ Tackle/ Wrestle
-Play dough
-Crafts
and that's just before lunch time.
The boys second-to-favorite activity (being that getting soaked was their first)?
Mommy let them watch a video AND eat popcorn on the couch.
They were in heaven (for the whole 20 min attention span they have for television...one of the downsides to not watching it often. Sigh.)
We also worked all day on our Fall banner... Kid is getting really good at scissors and Bee just likes getting into stuff. Reminder, my house was clean.
Daddy Mock came to save the day at nearly 6pm when my energy was shot, my head pounding, and my patience level depleted. Why is it that one day of being inside can do this to a mother? Does it take training?
I know there was a handful of moms that had this exact weather today...what did you do?
