When Miss Delicious sent us a video of the Retro Rental, the guest/boys' bathroom was by far, the core of this home's charm.
We quickly learned from the owners that this home was built in the early 60's. Original everything, including fabulous floral wallpaper with metallic accents... everybody's dream. My favorite (which couldn't be removed due to the snowball factor--if you are a homeowner and have done any projects with removing mirrors, you understand) are the gold-splattered mosaic mirrors that compliment the sides of the large mirror. Because everybody needs to see their body spliced into twelve different parts.
Spliced is a word.
Or maybe it's not, but I am still high from all of the spray painting I've done today, so I have a great excuse.
Before, in it's 60's beauty:
After:
Notice everything is pretty much the same? Being that it's a "rental", we decided to use paint only to improve the home (we have full control from the owner's to do any projects as this is a long-term opportunity and we're praying that one day they will let us buy it!).
Since we don't want to sink any money (not like we have much to sink!) into something that's not ours, I have to work with Retro's charm...including tangerine counter tops.
And so beget the argyle-inspired shower curtain.
I found this curtain at Target for $10 and added the triangle appliques... I really really wanted a brown and white Dwell one, but that one was $30, big difference...but with some scrap fabric and some grey rugs, a orange/grey/brown/white pallet was created.

This bathroom is where bedtime preparation happens. Remember, I'm a single mom most of the week? This print is VERY important come 6:30pm. Very important. It reminds me to take deep breaths.
A lot of them.
Did you notice the lovely carpet in the bathroom? I bet you're jealous.
I would be.
Hence the 'round the John rug. Two boys shooting urine towards a target less often sought after doesn't work well with bathroom carpet. I bet you're even more jealous now.
You should be.
I still have a few little projects I want to work on in the core, but for now, it works, and the hanging print (complete with spray painted frame and matte!) does wonders for my sanity.
