Part of being a struggling perfectionist is the constant struggle to just "let go".
It's a constant struggle.
With now juggling a side-business and a mini-homestead, I'd like to think that I have let go of the house a bit. And I have, but then it creeps in....the inability to breathe if I step on one more crumb or see one more article of clothing on the floor...so you see, it's a constant struggle, much like any other addiction, and I am sure there are plenty of people out there that can identify what I'm talking about.
At some point along this blog, our family journal, I became fascinated in photography. My photos definitely show progress in a technical nature, which is of course fun to look back and see growth. But from a "perfectionist" angle, it makes posting imperfectly technical photos very hard to do. So, join me as I fight the struggle to "perfect" photos and instead, charge forward in our family journal with "imperfect" photos, but very-much-perfect memories.
Below are some photos that I've neglected to blog, because all I can see is imperfection. Yes, I took the photo because of the moment, but, alas, the lighting is wrong, or the subjects are blurry or the colors are off.
Mark my goal. For now on, I choose to let imperfectly perfect photos join our journal. This is not my photography blog, no. This is our life. And I don't want to miss it by being wrapped up in perfect.
Now for some definitions.
Thursdays are commune days. The boys next door join the Bee Hive for the day. It's six kids, five boys, one girl. Mostly it's easy, mostly it's noisy, and mostly there is some form of superhero action (and some blankie loving).
Grammy and Opa came for a week. It was bliss. They stay in the "Cozy Coach" (our guest house) and come and go as they please. It may as well be called Chuck E Cheese, because that's how excited the boys get to start their day in there every morning. Perhaps it's the built in plasma tv that Grammy plays videos for them on, or perhaps they know that Grammy and Opa will indeed treat them to ice cream, park trips, and numerous outings.
We visited Gigi and Papa. The boys follow Gigi around like puppies. I think she is like Mary Poppins. They think so too. They are very disappointed when she leaves the room. One of the highlights is when Papa comes home from work. He brings out the bb gun out and the bow and arrow set so that they can shoot the target (which happens to be a faux ram) to their hearts desire. Many people think that Bee looks like Papa...I'm not sure...any resemblance??? YES is the answer. From birth he's had very much the same traits!
Part of the highlight of visiting either set of grandparents is the fact that I get to run, alone. Oh, how my soul enjoys this. One day, when Grammy went back to the coach for her morning nap, and I reluctantly came back from my run, I entered Retro Rental to find this:
I was indeed concerned for my life. Wouldn't you be if you saw a 4-yr-old still in his footy pj's?
So there it is. Embrace imperfect images. Enjoy perfect moments. You'll be seeing more of these.
