Today We Were Native Americans

Babies appreciate adventure, too.
Today was Commune Thursday, and because of this amazing weather, I couldn't imagine staying at home with five kids. So we settled on a history lesson. This week has been a bit of a "Wild Wild West" week. I suppose in our quest for daily adventures that is bound to happen. We do live in an area that easily inspires such a theme.

I taught the boys about the real meaning of "Cowboys and Indians", although, they did learn the more appropriate and politically correct term "Native American" as well. I'm not sure they grasped the entire concept. Kid was afraid that the Native Americans would want their land back. Compassionate heart he has. Next Door #2 didn't care much about the lesson, but was intrigued with the style of battle I promised to model thereafter. Bee, he just wanted to hit something with his sword.
Thankfully Daddy Mock and I just watched The Last Samurai, so I was well versed on setting up the scene. Attack!
Honey and Next Door #3 were quite the explorers. They got plenty dirty, yes, but boy did they have fun climbing about the old mining machinery. It was a good day and this adventure challenge is proving to be quite rewarding.
