Today was Kid's first day of school.
In the last few weeks we wrestled between homeschool, a fantastic charter school in our area, and a private Christian school that I attended as a kid, K-12. Well, the decision was made the night of our "discovery" with the twins.
Kid started at a wonderful school with a WONDERFUL group of parents and faculty today. It's pretty surreal walking him into his classroom where the memories are still so fresh and clear. It smells the same. It looks the same (but in better shape, lucky Kid). Some of the same faculty. It's so familiar and I am blessed that he is going to be a part of the same network that caught me doing everything wrong and taught me how to make better decisions!
Doesn't he look "too cool for school"? He wouldn't give me a real smile, just some type of tween look.
Kid and his best buddy.
His class has 12 kids and 9 out of 12 of them are offspring of friends. That's a fantastic social situation for the adults. We joked of pooling together some funds to get an espresso machine and daily scones after the drop-off. It can come true.
No, there were no tears on either end. I was so relieved to be at peace with this decision and to leave him with such a capable teacher and wonderful group of kids! I asked Kid about his day. He had a lot of positive things to say, his only negative comment? "I was hoping I would learn to read today"... there's always tomorrow, Kid.
As for some "twin" questions...a response:
-No, we were not aware there were twins there. I have not had a sonogram yet and was measuring just slightly larger than a single baby.
-No, there are absolutely no twins in the family... which is odd, being that this is technically my second set (Scarlett was a "surviving twin").
-We are not sure if the boys are identical or not yet, apparently there are a few ways of finding out, but it's hard to tell in-utero. They did seem to be holding hands at one point, though, which leads me to think they may be in the same sac?
-Yes, their names are already picked. We didn't even have boy names to begin with, and surprisingly, we settled on these very happily. The first born twin will be August Paul, (aka: Ozzie), the second born twin, Elias Jude (aka: Eli)--I'll share their meanings later.
I hope that answered all the questions.
Oh, and yes, I've reverted all the kids' names back to their "real life" names and real life nicknames... I can't keep track of all these blog names, just trying to simplify!
