Sequentially Funny

On our jog, we pass by a house that got a major dose of TP-ing. Carter says, "Oh, that's just silly. Trees don't have bottoms!"
---------------------------------------------------
When asking for something, I am working on getting Carter out of the habit of demand asking with a please at the end... ie: "DRINK, please". So, instead, he's learning to say, "May I have a drink, please, Mommy". Dialogue starts like this:
C: "DRINK, please"
M: "I don't have the freedom to get you a drink unless you ask correctly".
C: (forgets or pretends to forget)???
M: "It starts with a 'May?'"
C: "May I have a drink, please, Mommy?".
Well, now he's turned into a smart-alic and does the following:
C: "DRINK, please"
M: All it takes is a look at this point is the mommy "I'm waiting" face in his direction...
C: "It starts with a 'MAY'!" "May I please have a drink, please?"

Last night I let Carter take a shower and as he was perfectly safe (snap, there was a razor in there, oops) I decided to hop online in the adjoining room. He is just chatting away to himself and I stop to listen to what he's saying:
"Sunday we go to Starbucks and church, Monday, we go grocery shopping, Tuesday, we go to see our friends, Thursday we go to the library"
I was so surprised as of course we go over our schedule and I even have a chart so that he can visually understand sequence, but for him to say it on his own was quite a milestone... my little planner.

We experienced a bit of a teaser-visit from Grammy and Opa as they had planned on staying, but those ridiculous Southern California fires had to go and mess up our plans... they stayed with us a bit less than 12 hrs, however, it was enough time for both boys to wake up and discover an incredibly cool and super loud BACKHOE tractor! What more can a boy ask for? Carter has been inseparable from it, other than me prying him away to get some fresh air and exercise (I mean, it's mid-70's here, we've got to take advantage)... anyway, that was a long introduction to a rather short quote. As we were getting ready for bedtime, we were discussing having to stop playing with the backhoe.
M: "It's time to take a shower, then book time, then bedtime"
C: "NOooooo, I want to play with my backhoe".
M: "Well, it will be here tomorrow, sometimes tractors need breaks too at night".
C: (Looks at me with interest) "Yes! I will get a blanket and the backhoe can sleep in the garage!"--he goes and finds a blanket and neatly tucks Mr. Backhoe in for the night.
