Craft Happy

Well, I did it.
After years of crafty desire hovered by fear of the unknown, I have successfully thread the bobbin. I have been reluctant to sew all these years due to the complexity of threading the sewing machine (or perception, at least). One can compare it to a baby boomer turning a computer on for the first time and fearing "breaking it". That's me with a Singer.
After Melissa's splendid giveaway, and my order for my Sierra bags waiting, I decided I was through with the plastic bowls I take to and from the parks. I want a snack bag and I want it now!
So I made three (just two pictured, however, as there is an awesome story for the third to come):
Somehow my budgeted hair money (envelope system, whoo whoo!) keeps getting spent on such items. Months of root upkeep went to the camera (well worth it!), and now this month's went to the Singer. Again well worth it. I say that only as a disclaimer because this Momma is looking quite outdated lately (it's been 5 months, that's a lot of roots). But my kids now sport pretty awesome eco-friendly snack bags. So back off.
I also sewed up these fun little saucers:
They serve as creative play items for the boys. So far, this is what the duo has used them for:
*"Army Frisbees" -C
*"Wheels"-C
* Balls to throw-E
*Pancakes and/or pizza-E
*Hopscotch-C
*"Matching Game"-C
*Toss them in the basket-C & E
*Some sort of version of baseball/ tag-C
(Quotations are the party's self-labeled activity)
So thank you to the fabulous Melissa (and Bobbi) for sparking enough inspiration and motivation to go out and conquer the land of do-it-yourself. And as a result of my guilty conscience for using your creative influence, I leave with the following quote:Because it's good. And it makes me feel better. (!)
