The walls were primed with 123 Primer and then painted, a very inexpensive way to deal with wallpaper! The budget was super small for all of Retro Rental's makeover, so we used everything that we already have...the only main purchase was the curtains, made by this shop. She was quick, had a great fabric selection and produced awesome curtains! I cost compared her products with Target's plain curtains and it ended up being near the same cost, and I would have ended up doctoring them up with additional fabric anyway (not to mention, they are custom to fit each window). She also outfitted the dining room and living room.

We have had the same master bedroom since we got married (6 wonderful years ago!), and we were both ready for a change, to give you an idea of how we used all the same stuff, but changed the entire look, here's our original master bedroom:

I bought about four yards of assorted Anna Maria Horner fabric (from her fab line, Garden Party) to recover all of the pillows... I also used some inexpensive white knit to make the ruffle pillow, which is my favorite! It's very soft and the best part, stretchy, so it has a tight fit on the original pillow and washes easily. I changed the annoying shades by taking of the crystal fringe and adding crocheted edging.

All of the black frames received a new coat of paint, courtesy of Krylon...the paint color is Ivy Leaf and it's one of my favorite spray paint colors around...far from their typical primary palette.
The headboard and ottoman got a new look as well... I was a bit intimidated over ruining the original tufting that my black fabric had and didn't want to undertake the task of figuring out the buttons...my fab friend Annie mentioned that her and her husband used hardware and screws to create the tufted look...I had some old brass knobs hanging around, so with a little primer and spray paint, I had a new headboard! Fabric is from Joel Dewberry's Chestnut Hill collection. (Love him, he's the designer of that awesome Antler Damask!)

The ottoman was simply covered with 1/4 yard of Anna Maria Horner's coordinating fabric... gotta love a simple project: screw driver and staple gun is all you need! The furniture all remains the same (the two chairs were from our living room in our past home)...the dresser and side tables were purchased at the goodwill when we were engaged for $50...I sanded, painted them, and gave them new hardware. Eventually I may repaint them a color that coordinates a bit better, but after all the painting...I decided I am very happy with them how they are.

The pink cake plate was our cake plate for our wedding...it used to be silver.

It was so fun to create a completely different room by using my sewing machine and a few yards of fabric...(oh, and that new duvet set was from Target for $59...guess I couldn't completely get rid of the blue!)...

I have to laugh, looking at our past room, it was so, well, symmetrical and plain..Retro's master just gave it a little spark of sunshine I suppose. And I shouldn't point this out, but I'm completely lazy or I would have retaken the photo with the throw pillow facing up. Now that's awkward.

Oh how precious are you.

Honey, you are one sweet angel girl. You are so pleasant to have around...almost as if there isn't a baby around, just a girlfriend always in the room to talk to. I never thought that I would want or enjoy that feeling, but it's a miracle, us girls.

This month has been a big month for you developmentally.

In the last month, you have:

*started rolling over both ways...although in your crib you get stuck, which proves to be an issue at times in the night (oh, how I remember this with the boys!)

*have had your first haircut

*begun reaching for faces, giving kisses, looking for the boobies

*started grabbing toys with great fervor

*spent long periods of time talking in your crib

*staying awake much longer in the day

*found that your hands make a great teether

You are still so petite, in fact, when I found Bee's 5th month update, I was shocked at how huge he was compared to you. People who meet you in person vs. seeing photos of you remark on how petite and tiny you are in real life!

Some funny things that you do:

-spit...you make loud noises with your tongue...those brothers are trouble!

-flirt...you love men...again, trouble!

-we call you "lizard girl" because you seem to enjoy the feeling of your tongue all the way out.

Your routine:

You are the most flexible of the three of my kids, mostly because we have to be, catering to making life fun for the boys...and easier on me! You have been doing very well at taking one of your naps out, be it at the lake, the pool, church, stores, etc...you can either be worn or if Mommy, say, is dunking one of your brothers in the pool, you simply take a paci and a little rock to sleep and you can be placed on the ground or in your stroller or car seat. What an angel you are. You are still on three naps, usually your morning nap is 1.5 hrs, mid-day (our outing), 45 min, and afternoon--2 hrs.

You were so easy during our week-long vacation...you slept through the night in the trailer...you rarely made a peep and you enjoyed all the stimulation and company...I think you're going to be a little social one...you never got tired of faces or got upset when someone you didn't know well was holding you.

You are so very special, and I cherish our moments together in such a different way than what I did with the boys. We love you, Sister!
